Alison McCauley is a photographer who is currently based in Singapore. Her approach to the people and locations she photographs is exploratory, questioning and open-ended. Guided by her curiosity and intuition, she creates series of images that she hopes are as multifaceted and nuanced as the subjects she's drawn to.
Alison has a visual arts background and holds degrees from the University of Southampton, the Haute Ecole d’Art et de Design in Geneva and the Open College of the Arts. She is a member of the documentary agency Dalam and a member of the collective Vivo. In 2016 Alison had a book and a zine published. The book documented the lives of asylum seekers in Geneva. The zine, published by Antler Press, contained a subjective series of images from an on-going personal project. Alison has had solo exhibitions in France and Switzerland and group exhibitions in the US, UK, France, Switzerland and Georgia. Her photographs have been published by Al Jazeera, BBC News in Pictures, France 24, Courrier International, The Daily Mail, The Houston Chronicle, BLink - The Hindu Business Line, advocate.com, Foto 8, Life Force Magazine, Photo District News and The Telegraph, among others. A native English speaker, Alison is also fluent in French and Portuguese.
